Hi, I’m Shawn Priebe, the creative director of NSP Designs, an Arkansas-based lighting design firm specializing in live entertainment. With over a decade of experience in visual storytelling, I lead a dedicated team that transforms concepts into immersive, functional, and visually captivating live experiences—particularly through innovative lighting design.
My journey into professional stage lighting began unexpectedly in 2006. One evening, a guy walked into a local bar and struck up a conversation about lighting with the bartender. What started as casual discussion extended well beyond closing time: the bartender locked up, joined him and two of his colleagues for drinks, and became deeply intrigued by the world of stage lighting. A few days later, I visited his lighting shop as invited. His colleagues chuckled when he admitted he might have forgotten mentioning the invitation—perhaps due to the previous night’s enthusiasm—but my genuine interest was evident. He welcomed me nonetheless.
That pivotal encounter opened doors I had only dreamed of. Within months, I was sketching lighting designs and, thanks to the access and mentorship provided by that shop, bringing those visions to life on real stages. The opportunity ignited a passion that has defined my career: creating dynamic, emotionally resonant lighting environments that enhance performances and captivate audiences.
I remain profoundly grateful for that serendipitous moment and the generosity extended to me. It laid the foundation for NSP Designs, where we continue to push boundaries in live lighting, integrating tools like grandMA consoles, Resolume for video mapping, and precise programming to deliver unforgettable shows. From arena tours to intimate venues, our work focuses on harnessing light to tell stories, evoke emotion, and elevate every production.
